Take a minute to reflect on leaders whom you hold in high esteem, and ask yourself, “Why do I have an affinity towards certain leaders I admire? What are the qualities that attract me to this person? What makes me want to follow them? How do they make me feel when I’m in their presence? And what attributes motivate me to act when they ask for my allegiance and support?” If you can identify these leadership traits, you will then begin to understand what gives a leader that certain magnetism and edge that others envy, which can attract a genuine following without incentive and without force.
